What is the best photo-editing software for an event photographer?
Aside from JPEG images the software must also be at ease in reading RAW files.

Can you also tell me the pros and cons of the software you recommend. Thanks alot.

If you can afford it: Photoshop
Pros: Professional editing software with a proven track record and 90 million features.
Cons: Expensive, and comes with 90 million features and you might use three.

Since you used the words low-cost: GIMP
Pros: Free.

“Canon digital camera”. That’s a rather large statement. P&S, Superzoom, dSLR?

It will depend on the school and the instructor. You should call them and find out. Many, many schools have trashed their darkrooms so a digital camera with full manual control would probably be OK. (You will need to verify that with your instructor of course.)

I would suggest because of your location, that you compose, write and illustrate one of your own and try to to publish it. Ask your family about a unique tale, story, poem or incident that happened and compose a short review of it. Next create a story-line in a sketch and complete it in pen and ink. Find out where you can publish it either in mainstay companies there or a small printer. Be sure to copywrite it, and sell or give a copy to family and friends but also to publishing houses there and abroad. If you feel you have no mind for the writing part find someone who you feel can put down words very simply, and good luck
PS, bye the way I once did the artwork this way for a friend who wanted to write children’s stories , it worked very well. Sorry I couldn’t help on the school end.
